Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based in ancient traditional Chinese medicine, where ultra-fine sterile needles are inserted into the body at very precise points to treat health problems and promote healing.

‘Qi’ (pronounced chi) is a nourishing substance that flows through the body via distinct channels (called meridians) that cover the entire body. Obstructions can occur along the meridians, due to physical and emotional stress, poor nutrition, infection and/or injury. Acupuncturists are trained to insert needles into specific points that stimulate the meridians, unblocking the flow of energy, and restoring vitality and healing.

Acupuncture can relieve pain, improve sleep quality, and can help a wide range of ailments and conditions (including but not limited to):

  •  Digestive disorders - constipation, diarrhea, hyper-acidity, spastic colon, IBS
  •  Respiratory disorders - asthma, bronchitis, chest infections, sinusitis, sore throat
  •  Neurological & Muscular disorders - carpal tunnel, headaches, facial tics, frozen shoulder, low back & neck pain, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, sciatica
  •  Urinary disorders - incontinence
  •  Menstrual & Reproductive disorders - cramps, irritability, emotional instability, hormone imbalances, pre/post IVF treatments

Deep Tissue Massage

The massage techniques are slower, the pressure is deeper, and specifically located on areas of tension and pain. The goal is to realign the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It is extremely effective for relieving chronic conditions (such as stiff necks, sore shoulders, and low back tightness) by physically breaking down bands of rigid tissue (adhesions) to relieve pain, stiffness and restore movement.

**Athletes who suffer from tight muscles, decreased flexibility and pain throughout their body will benefit greatly from this type of massage.

The massage tables are heated, ergonomic, and hydraulic. The lights are low and the music is soft. Your comfort and relaxation is our top priority!

Psychology

Holistic psychologists adopt a whole person approach to health. The focus of therapy is on increasing our sense of personal empowerment and freedom. Cultivating self-awareness begins the process of self-acceptance, thus creating space for the transformation of limiting behaviours, thoughts, and beliefs.

Holistic psychology integrates aspects of traditional talk therapy with body-centred, experiential, mindfulness-based approaches in order to access and transform unconscious core material. The mind - body- heart connection is integral becoming aware of and understanding the difference between the true self and the unconscious responses, and between external and authentic power.

Through the collaborative therapeutic relationship, holistic psychologists support individuals internal wisdom in order to explore questions such as: What do I value? How do I heal? What is my intention? How can I thrive?

Areas of Support:

Personal Growth - Resilience - Self-Esteem - Work - Life Balance - Life Transitions - Navigating Interpersonal Relationships - Stress - Tension - Lack of Energy - Depression - Anxiety - Trauma - Addictions

Holistic Nutrition

The holistic approach addresses the entire person including diet, lifestyle, and emotional well-being. Respecting people as a whole and integrating the mind/body connection is a primary focus for a holistic health professional. Because we are all biochemically unique, we respond differently to our environment and food, therefore requiring different dietary and lifestyle suggestions.

An in-depth session with a Holistic Nutrition Consultant will determine what your current health is, what body systems need to be re-balanced, and what specific foods help support those systems.

A nutrition plan would then be created based on your goals and what your body is currently communicating as a top priority. As you go through your health journey, more will be revealed and can be addressed at that time.

Holistic Nutrition can address a variety of health concerns:

  • Thyroid issues
  • Stress
  • Fatigue
  • Weight issues
  • Gas/bloating
  • Constipation
  • Hormonal Imbalances
  • PMS/mood swings
  • Anxiety/depression
  • Allergies
  • Inflammation
  • Cleansing/detoxing
  • Vegan/Celiac/Paleo

**Note: It is important to know that a Holistic Nutrition Professional is not a medical or naturopathic doctor and does not diagnose or treat disease. However, including and eliminating certain foods based on your current health that help support your body in the natural re-balancing of those body systems, can have a positive and long lasting effect on the future of your health.

FAQ's:

What is the difference between a Dietitian and Holistic Nutrition Consultant?

A Dietitian makes dietary recommendations based on the Canada Food Guide and the calorie content of foods. While this approach may work for some, it doesn’t take into account individual needs and lifestyle. Holistic Nutrition works from a whole food perspective addressing the whole person and provides individual health plans that are unique to that individual.

Which package is best for me?

This depends on how much support you feel you need. Your first session will be assessing your goals and completing a body systems analysis. Coaching sessions are offered in different bundles allowing you to take small steps each week, to create new habits and implement change.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy illuminates the limiting beliefs that we have stored deep in our subconscious mind. These limiting beliefs cause self-destructive behaviours and affect self-esteem/self-worth.  Long-lasting changes can only occur when the subconscious mind is reprogrammed for success.

What you think and feel largely determine what you experience in your daily life.

Hypnosis can empower you to change your beliefs, and ultimately change your life!

Osteopathy

The goal of osteopathy is to find the root cause of pain and movement limitation.

Osteopathic treatments are completely hands-on, using strong manipulations and joint movements that are combined with massage techniques to eliminate any restrictions around vital organs, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.

Manual Osteopaths use a variety of techniques to address imbalances in the body, from a whole body (holistic) perspective. This includes treating bones, joints, muscles, and fascia through the soft tissues of the body, to achieve and maintain structural balance by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework.

Manual Osteopaths use soft tissue manipulation as a form of treatment. Fascia is tissue found in all parts of the body. It connects all of the body’s structures at both superficial and deep levels. The fascia is then evaluated to find areas of restriction, and  soft tissue manipulation is used to make sure the length and tension of the fascia are properly balanced.

Manual osteopaths can treat the following:

  • tendonitis/overuse issues
  • chronic conditions
  • postural problems
  • headaches and migraine
  • whiplash
  • back and neck pain
  • muscular aches
  • joint problems
  • sciatica
  • reflux, gastric and breathing complaints
  • sports injuries

Cranial Sacral Therapy

A gentle, hands-on treatment focused on eliminating restrictions in the body that have been caused by any form of trauma (emotional, mental, physical). This enables the physiological motion of the bones of the skull, spine, sacrum, coccyx (tail bone) and pelvis to return to normal.

Craniosacral therapists seek to realign the bones of the skull by gently manipulating the skull bones at the sutures (those fibrous joints that hold bones together in the skull), allowing the cerebrospinal fluid to circulate freely (cushions and bathes the brain and spinal cord, bringing nutrients and flushing away wastes).

There can be a somato-emotional component of cranial sacral therapy,  which means when the body is supported, it can release any unwanted emotions that have been stored in the tissues. These unwanted emotions actually cause a muscular and/or internal organ imbalance.

CST may provide relief of symptoms in the following:

TMJ dysfunction, ringing in the ears, brain/spinal cord dysfunction, headaches, depression and any number of chronic aches and pains

Cupping Massage

Glass (fire cupping) or plastic cups are applied to the skin, creating a vacuum seal on areas of the body to create change in both muscles and fascia.

The pressure in the cup is reduced by changing temperature or suctioning out air, so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is drawn into and held in the cup.

The suction created brings blood to the surface of the skin, expelling toxins, relieving pain, and softening the underlying muscle tissue.

Cups are sometimes moved around the body, mirroring the relaxing strokes you feel during a traditional massage.

**Although cupping is not painful, the recipient usually will experience circular bruises on the areas where the cups were applied, which can last for a few days.
